Multisport: GeezerJock Magazine to Launch in March

GeezerJock Media LLC Announces Free Subscription Offer to First 15,000 to Register at www.geezerjock.com.

CHICAGO, Jan. 12 -- GeezerJock Media LLC announced today that it is launching GeezerJock magazine, a groundbreaking Masters sports and fitness publication that is the first to cover the broad spectrum of serious senior athletics for people 40-and-over. The quarterly magazine also has a companion Web site at www.geezerjock.com.

To celebrate the magazine's scheduled March debut, GeezerJock Media is offering a free year's subscription to the first 15,000 people to register at www.geezerjock.com. Once the offer expires, a year's subscription will cost $15.95.

GeezerJock Media was founded to provide serious coverage of the burgeoning world of Masters athletics, which includes a host of sports ranging from track and field to swimming and from basketball to baseball. This segment of athletics is expected to boom as the U.S. population ages. In 2000, there were 120 million Americans 40-plus. By 2020, there will be more than 160 million Americans 40-plus, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

"Our magazine isn't covering shuffleboard; we're covering people who are still grabbing surfboards even though they're 60 or 70 or older," said Bill Ferguson, GeezerJock's VP-sales. "The people who've seen this magazine love it. Through word of mouth alone, we've already generated more than 7,000 sign- ups on our Web site."

GeezerJock presented a special preview issue in October, which featured coverage of Masters basketball (including a 60-year-old man who can still dunk) and an interview with former NFL star and current Masters sprinter Billy "White Shoes" Johnson. The official debut issue in March is slated to include:

-- a feature on Men's Senior Baseball League, which has about 45,000 players nationwide.
-- a look at a Masters track and field doping scandal in Germany.
-- a profile on several woman who, without the benefit of Title IX, have discovered their athletic ability in their later years.
