Posted: January 15, 2005 Athletics: Kipchoge And Tirunesh Dibaba Win In Edinburgh From David Monti (c) 2004 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge and Ethiopian Tirunesh Dibaba were winners at today's View from Great North Cross Country in Edinburgh, Scotland. Kipchoge was a hasty replacement for Olympic 10,000m gold medalist Kenenisa Bekele who missed the meet because of the sudden death of his fiancée last week. An Olympic medalist himself, Kipchoge is a favorite to make the podium at the IAAf World Cross Country Championships in March. Dibaba, the 2003 world 5000m champion and still just a teenager, got the victory over reigning world cross country champion, Benita Johnson of Australia. Dibaba was the world 4 km cross country silver medalist in 2004. Comment on this story. |
