Posted: January 17, 2005 Triathlon: Snap Ironman Australia Triathlon Update The countdown has begun – just over 3 months to go till Chris McCormack returns to Forster to attempt to create history – champion of Ironman Australia for the 4th year running!! The field is looking great with strong Aussie challengers Luke Bell and Mitch Anderson keen to leave their mark on Forster. Belinda Granger, after a stunning performance coming 6th in Hawaii is back and hungrier than ever to be first female across the line. 2005 marks the 20th event being held in Forster-Tuncurry – the first being the “Great Lakes International Triathlon” which was held on 20 April 1985. A field of 165 competitors started in this first event, which included big names such as Mark Allen and Scott Tinley. In 2005, over 1,600 competitors will be lined up along the shores of Wallis Lake ready to “live the dream”, all aiming to cross the finish line within the 15.5 hour cut-off. 2005 Competitors – Triathlon Australia Membership A reminder to all athletes competing in the 2005 Snap Ironman Australia Triathlon – you must be a current member of Triathlon Australia by 31 January 2005. Please contact TA to join on 02 9972 7999 or visit www.triathlon.org.au Qualifying Slots – 2005 Hawaii And 2006 Ironman Australia – Changes To Acceptance And Rolldown Process All athletes competing in the 2005 Snap Ironman Australia Triathlon should be aware that changes have been made to the Acceptance and Rolldown process for both 2005 Hawaii Ironman Triathlon World Championship and 2006 Ironman Australia Triathlon. Both will be held on MONDAY 4 APRIL 2005 and it is very important for all competitors to read and be aware of new procedure.
