Triathlon: Galindez Swimming With Ironman Wetsuits Through 2006

CHICAGO (January 13, 2005) – South America’s most successful man in triathlon, Oscar Galindez (ARG/BRA), recently signed with Ironman Wetsuits through 2006. He already put the leading brand name on the podium with his November second-place finish at the Reebok/PowerBar Long-Distance Triathlon, and plans to win next weekend’s Half-Ironman Pucon for the third year in a row.

“I’ve been training in the Stealth and can’t believe I was swimming in another wetsuit for the last two years,” Galindez, an Ironman Brazil winner and Sydney Olympics triathlete, said from his hometown, Cordoba, in Argentina.

“Oscar only works with the best gear and sponsors that share his vision, and he keeps his relationships for the long term,” said his manager, Juliana Ikeda, of Sao Paulo’s TW Marketing Consulting. “That’s our plan with Ironman Wetsuits, too.”

Chicago agent Hammy Handwerker works with Ikeda and brokered the new relationship. “He’s an icon, in news coverage and advertising every month throughout the growing South American market,” said Handwerker. “Age-groupers identify with Oscar, and this will strengthen the relationship they have with the world’s fastest neoprene.”

“We are excited to kick off our relationship with Oscar,” said Ryan Vanderloop, Sponsorship Coordinator, Ironman Wetsuits. “He is a top-class athlete, terrific ambassador and role model to triathletes in South America. Ironman Wetsuits is proud to work with Oscar.”

Galindez, a Sydney 2000 Olympian, two-time Pan American Games medallist, Ironman Brazil, Half-Ironmans Pucon and Mar del Plata winner, Duathlon World Champion, and national triathlon champion, has been long sponsored by Reebok athlete (www.reebok.com), Profile Design (www.profile-design.com), Oakley (www.oakley.com), Memorial (www.grupomemorial.com.br), and Brazil's leading endurance sport news portal (www.WebRun.com.br), and now Ironman Wetsuits (www.IronmanWetsuits.com).
