Posted: January 20, 2005 Athletics: New Balance Games Features Elite Miles From David Monti (c) 2004 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com Saturday's New Balance Games, to be held at the Aromory Track & Field Center in New York City, will feature elite miles for both men and women. On the men's side defending champion, Elkanah Angwenyi of Kenya, will do battle with James Thie of Wales and Adrian Blincoe of New Zealand. In last year's race, Angwenyi won by an eyelash over Anthony Whiteman of England, 4:02.73 to 4:02.78. Angwenyi is coming off of a victory last Friday at the Front Street Mile in Hamilton Bermuda; Thie was fourth. The women's elite mile will feature Carmen Douma-Hussar, last year's world indoor silver medalist at 1500m. She was 9th at that distance in the Athens Olympics. She'll be chased by American Amy Mortimer, 9th at the U.S. Olympic Trials last summer. The New Balance Games primarily features top high school competitors in a day-long meeting with thousands of competitors. The Armory's 200m banked Mondo track is especially fast.
