Triathlon: Under-23 triathlon camp for beginners to advanced in Clermont

CLERMONT, Fla. (January 31, 2005) World-class professional triathlete Luc Morin (CAN) and ePerformance High Performance Consultants will host a one-day triathlon camp for beginner to advanced athletes, ages 16 to 23, February 26, 2005, in Clermont, Fla. (www.ePerformance.ca). It’s not necessary to already be a triathlete, just equipped with a swimsuit, bike and helmet, running shoes, basic skills to participate, and the desire to accomplish personal goals.

Campers will get swim, bike and run technique training and fitness assessments, and seminars on sport nutrition, training plans, what it means to be a junior triathlete, and the myths and realities of being a pro athlete.

Morin, one of Canada’s top long-distance triathletes and an up-and-coming coach, has a Master’s degree in exercise physiology. Assistant coaches will be Francisca Russli, former pro triathlete and member of the Swiss national cycling team, and Julien Periard, an Olympic-distance pro triathlete with a Master’s in exercise science.

“Everyone knows what a triathlon is, but younger athletes, especially, benefit so much from learning basic training principles and proper swim, bike and run technique,” says Morin. “One day of camp can lead to years of great sport participation and a healthy lifestyle. Being a triathlete says so much about a person’s fortitude, individuality and ability to accomplish personal goals.”

ePerformance’s junior triathlon camp cycling workouts will be on Clermont’s smooth, bike-friendly roads. Swim and run training, and classroom sessions will take place at the National Training Center, a comprehensive, elite level, sports facility. The February 26, 2005, camp runs from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., and arrangements can be made for parents’ or other guests’ workouts during the day. The fee is $165.00 USD, and sports drink and PowerBars will be provided. ePerformance Training Camps are sponsored by PowerBar, bpStealth, Profile Design, Nuun, and South Lake Bicycles. For more information, visit www.ePerformance.ca, write to camps@ePerformance.ca, or call (514) 953-0797.
