Athletics: Powered by Tyson Invitational will Honor Most Valuable Athletes of the Meet with Awards

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – In addition to the $25,000 world-record bonus athletes will have another incentive to perform at the highest level at the 2005 Powered by Tysonä Invitational after meet organizers announced that the most valuable male and female athletes of the meet will be given commemorative Rolex watches from Fayetteville’s Underwood Jewelers. In addition to the Rolex watches, each professional event winner will receive an engraved Apple Ipod.

This is the first year such awards have been given to athletes entered in the meet and the honors will be presented to the athletes at a private dinner after the conclusion of the Powered by Tyson Invitational.

“We’re excited to give the most valuable athletes of the meet these unique rewards, because it gives them the recognition they deserve,” Powered by Tyson Invitational meet director Art Huff said. “The athletes give us such outstanding performances and the awards are something they can keep to remember our meet. It’s always nice to give back something extra to an athlete that always puts forth an extra effort at the Powered by Tyson Invitational. The fans appreciate how hard the athletes work to perform well and we wanted to reflect that appreciation with these honors.”

The Powered by Tyson Invitational will be held on Friday, Feb. 11 from 7-9 p.m. at the Randal Tyson Track Center. Tickets are available by calling 1-800-766-4626.
