Posted: February 16, 2005 Athletics: NYC2012 Run For Olympic Bid Full From David Monti (c) 2004 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com NEW YORK (16-Feb) -- A road race scheduled for next Tuesday evening in New York's Central Park to support the city's bid for the 2012 Olympic Games has filled up, organizers the New York Road Runners announced yesterday. The 5 km race, which begins and finishes behind the Central Park Zoo on the same roadway used by the ING New York City Marathon, has reached 2000 entrants, the race limit. The race is scheduled to conicide with the International Olympic Committee's visit to New York City, part of their evaluation of New York's bid for the 2012 Olympics. New York is one of five candidate cities bidding for the 2012 Games, along with London, Madrid, Moscow and Paris. ENDS Comment on this story. |
