Posted: February 17, 2005 Athletics: Johnson, Mottram Win In Melbourne From David Monti (c) 2004 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com By Bob Ramsak Australians Benita Johnson, the reigning world cross country champion, and Craig Mottram cruised to comfortable wins at today's Telstra A-Series meeting in Melbourne, Australia. Johnson, who returned home after winning four of five cross country races in Europe this winter, won the 5000 meters in 15:21.02, well ahead of marathoner Kerryn McCann's 15:41.76. In a much closer race, Mottram, who joined the event's sub-13 minute club last summer in London, outdashed Samwel Mwera of Tanzania 13:28.05 to 13:29.14. Both performances were early season outdoor world bests. Johnson isn't expected to race again prior to defending her long course cross country title next month in St. Galmier, France. Results:
