Posted: February 21, 2005 Athletics: Capital City Half Marathon Builds on Last Year's Success COLUMBUS, Ohio - (Feb 21, 2005) - The Team at John Bingham Racing is investing energy and resources to build the Capital City Half Marathon - set for Saturday, April 2 - into a world class celebration of the active, healthy lifestyle. Last year's inaugural Capital City Half Marathon and Commit to Be Fit 5K drew 4,000 participants. This year, the new half-marathon course includes a lap around historic Ohio Stadium, and the festivities include the Capital Kids Mascot Chase and a finish-line party and concert at PromoWest Pavilion in the Columbus Arena District. For 2005, registrations are already strong, and on-line registration is available at CapitalCityHalfMarathon.com. On Thursday, March 31 and Friday, April 1, there will be a two day health & fitness expo. There are also a large number of charity training programs using the event as a venue to raise funds to support their cause. The John Bingham Racing will again make a contribution to Mayor Coleman's Capital Kids after school program. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training is the world's largest endurance sports training program and will be the Official Charity Training Program of the Event. The program will provide training to run or walk the race to support a tremendous cause. The Capital City Half Marathon will be the highlighted half-marathon event for Team in Training regionally as well as locally. John Bingham, a national spokesperson for Team in Training, hosts pasta dinners at some of the largest Team in Training events around the world.
