Posted: February 22, 2005 Athletics: adidas and UK Athletics announce four year sponsorship deal UK Athletics and adidas today announced a four year sponsorship deal. Under the terms of the agreement, which comes into effect immediately, adidas becomes the exclusive sports apparel supplier to the Norwich Union GB & NI Team at all age groups. adidas has developed a revolutionary range of sportswear to help ensure that UK Athletics teams perform to the best of their abilities. Athletes’ competition and warm-up wear will feature ClimaCool technology, a state of the art heat management system that dissipates heat quickly away from the body via a complex ventilation system, enabling athletes to remain cooler for longer. Sprinters in particular will benefit from adidas’ ForMotion technology. The ForMotion running suit is engineered to maximise sprint performance by supporting the runner’s muscular system whilst helping them to maintain the right posture during a race. David Moorcroft, Chief Executive of UK Athletics, said: “We are delighted that the golden moments Britain experienced in Athens wearing adidas can now be extended to the major athletics championships that the Norwich Union GB Team will compete at. “In the year ahead these include European indoor and World outdoor championships. It is hugely beneficial to the sport that the adidas commitment will also provide for officials and other personnel at our world-class series of live televised events.” Robin Money, Head of Sports Marketing, adidas UK said: “We are proud of our association with UK Athletics. Our research and development team is the best in the business and has worked closely with some of the world’s finest athletes to develop these products.” The UK Athletics deal further strengthens adidas’ position as one of the leading brands involved in athletics. adidas recently supplied the kit for Team GB at the 2004 Athens Olympics and has similar deals with twenty other National Olympic Committees.
