Athletics: Ed Whitlock, Master of the Masters

The March issue of Running Times Magazine has given special recognition to Canada's Ed Whitlock in a mini-profile in their 2004 Masters of the Year section.

Because the 73 year-old, Whitlock did not race in any certified races in the United States during the 2004 rankings time window, he does not appear in their annual ranks.

His performances during 2004 were so outstanding that they gave him special mention within their rankings section.

His age-graded times, listed below, are comparable to the best performance of the year by any runner at any age.

Distance Time Race Age-Graded Time
5K 18:22 Power Bar, Toronto, ON 12:55
10K 37:33 Longboat, Toronto, ON 26:25
30K 2:03:50 Around the Bay, Hamilton, ON 1:27:42
Marathon 2:54:49 Toronto Waterfront, ON 2:03:58
