Posted: February 25, 2005 Triathlon: Two-time Ironman World Champion DeBoom to compete in the 2005 Ralphs California Half Ironman Triathlon OCEANSIDE, Calif.-Two-time Ironman World Champion Tim DeBoom (Lyons, Colo.) will compete in the 2005 Ralphs California Triathlon set to take place on Sunday, March 19 in Oceanside. DeBoom is a two-time Ironman World Champion, having posted victories in the Kona event in both 2001 and 2002 and ranks among one of the top competitors in all of Ironman Triathlon. The 34-year-old DeBoom has been a top contender around the world for a number of years, finishing third in Hawaii in 1999, second in 2000 and posting Ironman wins at Ironman New Zealand (1999) and Ironman California (2001). One a plethora of top triathletes from Colorado, DeBoom comes from a strong family of triathletes (brother Tony and wife Nicole are both pro triathletes.) The Ralphs California Half Ironman will take place for the fourth time in 2005 in Oceanside and on neighboring Camp Pendleton. More than 2,000 athletes are expected to take part in the event.
