Triathlon: Entries still open for the Fresh Choice Southern Lakes Women's Triathlon

Women from across the South Island are getting ready for the Fresh Choice Women's Triathlon at Lake Hayes on Saturday 12 March.

A good number of entries have been received by the event organisers and race director, Geoff Hunt says that it is still not too late to dust off the trainers, pump the tires up on the bike and call your friends to join the line up of women on the start line. Entries are still open.

"The emphasis is on participation and for women who have not managed as much training as they hoped, pulling a team together is an ideal way to still take part and have some fun on the day. It is more of a social event with everyone congratulated on completing their sections".

Entries received to date have been from women as far as Christchurch, Timaru, Oamaru, Dunedin, and Invercargill, all looking to make the journey to compete. It is expected that the local competitors will enter during the coming week.

The 2004 Business House trophy, won by CivicCorp has been polished up and is expected to be hotly contested on the day by local business teams. There has been a fantastic number of entries from local businesses with many entering at least a few teams and a few individuals.

The triathlon course consists of a 300 metre swim or 2 km kayak, 15km bike ride and 5km run or walk. Prize giving follows straight after the race. There is a fantastic pool of prizes from sponsors for place getters and spots for all athletes.

Entry is open now and right up until the day of the event. Categories include individual, team, business house and veteran. Entry forms are available from Fresh Choice, sports shops or by contacting Southern Traverse event management.
