Athletics: Radcliffe To Run Crescent City Classic

Paula Radcliffe has announced on her website that she plans to contest the Crescent City Classic, a 10 km road race scheduled for Saturday, March 26 in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.

"The American race will give the world marathon record-holder the opportunity to stretch her legs before bidding to regain her London (Marathon) title on April 17," reads the statement at www.paularadcliffe.com.

This will be Radcliffe's second appearance at this flat, and fast road race. In 1997, she won here in 31:47, defeating U.S. star, Lynn Jennings (now retired).

With Radcliffe's entry, the course record of 31:24 set by Isabella Ochichi of Kenya in 2003 comes into immediate danger; Radcliffe is the world record holder for the distance: 30:21.0 set in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 2003.
