Athletics: 2005 World Athletics Day

Congratulations to the Saint-Laurent Select Club in Montreal, Quebec and the Ottawa Lions Club in Ottawa, Ontario which have been chosen to be the Canadian hosts for this year’s World Athletics Day.

Since 1996, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has used the first weekend in May to be World Athletics Day (WAD). The main objective of WAD is to promote and develop youth athletics on a worldwide basis. For this year’s event, those athletes born between 1988 and 1989 are eligible to take part. World Athletics Day helps to create an atmosphere that focuses on potential Olympians.

Athletics Canada will maintain information for the events in the Calendar and Results section of our website at: www.athletics.ca.
