Posted: March 28, 2005 Triathlon: USAT Election Protest Petition Triathlete, attorney, and Slowtwitch forum denizen Steve Perkins of Denver, Colorado, is protesting a certain element of the most recent USAT election. This protest revolves around Amendment #2, grants the board power to change bylaws without first sending them to the membership for adoption or ratification. Steve's protest is based on USAT's failure to comply with its own bylaws outlining how an election ought to be run; the changing information about Amendment #2 during the election; and the failure of USAT to inform the members that the information regarding the Amendment had been changed. Steve has a variety of further complaints about this election, all well-founded, and you can read about them all from: http://www.perxnet.com. Steve needs signatures of annual members. In order to protest an election, a requisite number of signatures MUST be turned in to USAT within 15 days of the end of the election. That means signatures must be generated TODAY, and FAXED to 303-572-6540, with the hard copy then dropped in the mail to Steve, just to be on the safe side (he's guarding against what technicalities might be placed in his path). This must be done TODAY, so that he can collate them and get them in to USAT. If you believe, as I do, that elections held in a clean and fair manner are the first requirement of any member or shareholder owned organization, you'll sign this protest petition. If you're an annual USAT member, print out the signature page from the website noted above, sign it, and send it. Thanks, Dan Empfield
