The 2005 Honu Half Ironman Triathlon is offering a total of 85 qualifying spots to the Ironman World Championship being held on October 15, 2005. There will be 30 International, 20 State of Hawaii and 35 Big Island Resident spots up for grabs. Bike Works is Official Bike Shop for Honu 2005 The Honu Half Ironman Triathlon is pleased to announce Bike Works as the Official Triathlon and Bike Shop for the June 5, 2005 event. Owners Grant and Janet Miller, both Ironman World Championship finishers, have been servicing an array of professional and age-group athletes in Kailua-Kona since 1989. During race week, Bike Works will have a satellite store at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows, located next to race registration in the ballrooms. The satellite store will be open from Tuesday, May 31 through Monday, June 6, 2005 (Closed race day - Sunday, June 5). The satellite store will be equipped and ready to help athletes competing in the Honu Half Ironman with any last minute needs. The Bike Works satellite store will be a full-service triathlon shop with mechanics on-hand to assist with any technical problems or to provide a last minute tune-up. Bike Works will also offer a selection of triathlon and active sports wear, bicycle accessories, tri gear and nutritional products. Athletes traveling to the Big Island from other destinations can avoid the hassle and anxiety of taking their bikes through airports and on airplanes by shipping it ahead to the race week satellite store. Bike Works will not only receive your bicycle but, if you so choose, have it unpacked, assembled and tuned up, ready for race day. “We are very excited to be the Official Honu Half Ironman Triathlon Shop and Bike Tech Support for the race. The venue at the Mauna Lani Resort is beautiful as well as unique and challenging,” said Janet Miller, co-owner of Bike Works, the Big Island’s largest triathlon store. “Our team is looking forward to being a part of this premier event and is dedicated to providing everything a Honu athlete needs to ensure a positive and memorable race experience.” The Honu Half Ironman Triathlon will be held on June 5, 2005 at the Mauna Lani Bay Resort on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii, and is a qualifier race for the 2005 Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.
