Athletics: New Prizing Announced For Top Finishers At The Mississauga Marathon Presented By Canon

April 5, 2005 – Landmark Sport Group Inc, the organizers of the second annual Mississauga Marathon, announced today that all participants in the Canon Marathon have an increased chance of winning prize money at the 2005 event. In addition to the cash and merchandise prizes already up for grabs for the top three finishers, all runners in this event can win up to $1000 for finishing under a specified time.

Any marathoner finishing under 2:15 (male) and 2:35 (female), will win $1000, and a prize of $500 will be awarded to those participants who finish under 2:17 (male) and 2:37(female). Canon Canada has also agreed to provide an additional six prizes for the overall top three male and female winners of the Canon Marathon. Each will receive, in addition to cash and other merchandise, a Canon PowerShot SD300 Digital ELPH and leather case, with a retail value of over $500.00.

“The Mississauga Marathon presented by Canon has grown significantly in only its second year, and in order to enhance this growth we must appeal to the most elite runners in the world,” says Elliott Kerr, president of Landmark Sport Group. “With these exceptional prizes, we are expecting to entice many of Canada’s top runners to take part in the Canon Marathon year after year.”

While marathoners will be the only participants eligible for these extra time bonus prizes, the top three finishers in the Canon Marathon, Fila Half Marathon and the Remington 10K will all receive cash prizes. The top three Masters, as well as the first, second and third place age category winners in these three races will all receive valuable merchandise prizes.
