Athletics: NMBA Picks Lewis & Clark Marathon

The National Black Marathoners' Association Selects the Lewis & Clark Marathon and Half Marathon in St. Charles, MO for its 2005 Event

The National Black Marathoners’ Association (NBMA) has selected the Fourth Annual Lewis & Clark Marathon and Half Marathon for Black distance runners and walkers to congregate. These events are held on Sunday, September 18 in St. Charles, MO. Since registration is limited to the first 3,800 individuals, it’s important to register early at www.fleetfeetstl.com/lewisandclark.htm.

We’re requesting that the NBMA participants wear a red jersey for the race. The jersey may be purchased at your local athletic store. Additional information about our 2005 pre-race event may be found at www.BlackMarathoners.org.

Also, the NBMA is still accepting scholarship applications for high school cross country and track (1500 meters or longer) runners. The application deadline is May 15.

Our Mission

The National Black Marathoners' Association (NBMA) is a not-for-profit organization. It is open to everyone, regardless of your athletic ability or previous marathon experience. Our objectives are to

- Encourage Black Americans and others to pursue a healthy life-style through long distance running and walking.

- Serve as a vehicle for Black American distance runners across the nation to meet in mass at a single marathon.

- Provide scholarships to deserving high school boy and girl distance runners. Donations for the scholarship fund may be made at www.BlackMarathoners.org.
