Posted: April 19, 2005 Athletics: Big Sur International Marathon on Readers' Digest "America's 100 Best List" CARMEL, Calif. - (April 13, 2005) - The May edition of Readers' Digest sports a cover photo of Highway One and lists the Big Sur International Marathon as the "Best Marathon Moment" in the category of America's Best Adventures. "Mind blowing views of the Pacific along California's Highway 1" the marathon is described as offering something "a little extra." The article describes the descent from Hurricane Point and the greeting of a "Tuxedo-clad pianist seated at a Yamaha grand to help runners retool for the rest of the run." "We are delighted and honored by this distinction and hope that many other Americans will come to the Peninsula to experience this and other moments both in April with the marathon as well as in November with the half-marathon," remarked Wally Kaster, Race Director. The 20th Anniversary Presentation of the Big Sur International Marathon will take place on Sunday, April 24. More information on both this year's marathon and related events as well as the Big Sur Half Marathon on the Monterey Bay can be found on the website at www.bsim.org.
