Posted: April 21, 2005 Triathlon: Reeves & Swormstedt Favored At The "Best Of The USs Amateur Triathlete Competition's" New Hampshire Qualifier (St. Paul, MN - 4/21/05) EndorFun Sports, producers of the Mooseman Triathlon Festival, and "Best of the US.." management invite New Hampshire's triathlon community to participate in the 2005 Mooseman at Newfound Lake on June 5. This popular event is part of the inaugural "Best of the US Amateur Triathlete Competition," and promises to be hotly contested. A special invitation is extended to the elite amateur athletes of the Pine Tree State, as the fastest male and female resident amateurs will advance to the "Best of the US Championships" in picturesque Gilford, NH on August 20, where they'll race head-to-head with the winners of the other 49 state qualifiers. In order to insure that all states will be represented at the Championship, a 5-deep passdown system will be in effect. If the "Best of the US.." state champion is unable to attend the championship, his or her slot will be offered to the next in line, and so on. Bill Reeves and Randy Swormstedt are arguably the favorites to take the top New Hampshire spots. Here are their competitive highlights: BILL REEVES, 38, Durham Reeves is a six-time TT/IT All American and has earned the right to compete on Team USA on seven occasions. His career highlights include victories at Fairmount Park (1998) and Timberman Sprint (2003) and runner-up efforts at the Great Floridian (2001) and two top five finishes at the USAT National Championships (2003 & 1994). RANDY SWORMSTEDT, 34, Laconia Her state's premier multisportswoman, Randy typically wins 8-10 regional events annually. She's the Mooseman's defending champion and has won the last three editions of the Timberman Sprint, the event that will host the "Best of the US Championship" in August.
