Smith has a career best of 69.55 in the hammer throw. Smith, a six-time NCAA Division II All American, was 17th at the 2004 US Olympic Trials. Smith also holds the NCAA Division II Hammer throw record and was the 2004 University of Indianapolis Athlete of the Year. Smith was ranked 15th in the United States last year in the hammer throw and ranked seventh during the 2005 indoor season in the weight throw. Smith's first outdoor appearance will be at the Drake Relays on April 29th. Team Director Greg Harger said, "We're excited to add another Indiana college graduate to the roster. Retaining and supporting our Indiana Olympic talent is very important to us in our mission of bringing home medals to Indiana." Harger added, "Smith with only four years of experience in the hammer has real prospects for international success."
