Athletics: New Course Record expected in MDS Nordion 10K as elites confirm attendance

A new course record may be within reach for the MDS Nordion 10K this year as organizers pull together the best elite field in the history of the event.

Favourites include Reuben Chebii (PB 27:42), Patrick Nthiwa (27:16) and Reuben Cheryiyot (27:33) all from Kenya.

Also among the contenders are Kenyan Linus Maiyo and Australian Mike Powers, both with sub 29:00 PBs.

Canadian favourites Bruce Deacon (28:46) and Jeremy Deere (29:18) are expected to lead an impressive field of Canadian runners.

The women’s side returning 2004 champion Aster Demissie (31:53) will have stiff competition in Canadian Emilie Mondor (31:10) and Kenyan Anastasia Ndereba (32:55).
