Posted: May 11, 2005 Athletics: Kozmus To Miss 2005 Season By Bob Ramsak, Track Profile © 2005 Track Profile all rights reserved TrackProfile.com Olympic hammer throw finalist Primož Kozmus of Slovenia will miss the 2005 season due to a back injury, STA, the Slovenian Press Agency reported. The 25-year-old Kozmus, sixth at last year's Olympic Games and fifth at the 2003 world championships, is expected to undergo surgery later this month in Munich to repair a herniated disc. Kozmus said his back pains began soon after his winter training, forcing him to miss the European Winter Throwing Cup in Mersin, Turkey in March. The national record holder --81.21m [266-5] from 2003-- finished fourth at last year's World Athletics Final and is currently ranked eighth in the world in the hammer throw by the IAAF.
