Triathlon: WTC Announces A New Addition to the Corporate Office

May 11, 2005 - World Triathlon Corporation, organizers of the Ironman World Championship welcomes Steve Meckfessel as the newest member of the Event Management Team. Meckfessel was previously employed by St. Anthony’s Health Care as Events Manager for the internationally known St. Anthony’s Triathlon in St. Petersburg, FL. Prior to St. Anthony’s, Meckfessel served as Vice President of Sommer Sports and was also involved with the Florida Special Olympics and Show-Me State Games in Columbia, Missouri. He also brings television experience from ESPN, CBS and NBC Sports’ affiliates in Missouri.

Meckfessel will oversee operations of the 2005 Iron Girl events, a division launched last year by WTC as well as play a key role in Ironman event operations worldwide. Meckfessel comments on his new position, “This is an opportunity of a lifetime. I am excited about working with the Ironman team and look forward to applying my experience toward quality events."

Meckfessel will be moving closer to the Ironman offices from the St. Petersburg area to Land O’Lakes with his wife, Stephanie who is expecting their second child and Keene, soon approaching his second birthday.
