Posted: May 12, 2005 Athletics: New Novel By Mike Mykytok Released From David Monti (c) 2005 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com Mike Mykytok, the 1997 U.S. 10,000m champion, has released a new novel entitled, "Bloodhunt!". Loosely based on Mykytok's own life, the book tells the story of a runner who, after a strong high school career, leaves his New Jersey home "in search of fame and fortune at a college in Florida," the promotional material sent to journalists says. The runner is driven by a mysterious strength he finds in his long hair, and he "soon finds himself surrounded by shady characters and haunted by an old rivalry who becomes the key figure in an assassination attempt. Learn the truth --if you can handle it-- and fasten your seatbelts," the promotional material concludes. Mykytok, 34, was born in Somerville, N.J., and graduated from Bound Brook High School in 1989. He attended the University of Florida, and in 1992, as a junior, finished sixth in the NCAA Division I Championships at 10,000m. He enjoyed his best year in 1997 when he won the U.S. 10,000m title in what appeared to be a dead heat with Reuben Reina (both were timed in 28:34.92, still Mykytok's career best time). Later that year he was second in the U.S. 20-K Championships, finished third in the USA Road Circuit point standings, and set his 10-K road personal best of 28:38. The book is putlished by PublishAmerica and copies can be ordered directly on-line at: PublishAmerica.com at a cost of $18.95, plus $3.00 for shipping and handling. Comment on this story. |
