Posted: May 13, 2005 Triathlon: Philly Triathlon Chosen as "Best of the US" Pennsylvania Qualifier Welcome To The "Best Of The Us Amateur Triathlete Competition's" Pennsylvania Qualifier (St. Paul, MN - 5/11/05) Lars Beck, director of the PHILADELPHIA TRIATHLON in Fairmount Park, and "Best of the US.." management welcome Pennsylvania's triathlon community to the inaugural PHILADELPHIA TRIATHLON on June 26. This ambitious international distance event is part of the inaugural "Best of the US Amateur Triathlete Competition," and promises to be highly competitive. For more information on the PHILADELPHIA TRIATHLON, visit www.phillytri.com or www.bestoftheustriathletes.com. In order to insure that all states will be represented at the Championship, a 5-deep passdown system will be in effect. If the "Best of the US.." state champion is unable to attend the championship, his or her slot will be offered to the next in line, and so on. Below are a few of the registered amateur athletes that will compete for the top spots on June 26: RICK SLIFKIN (39, Bryn Mawr) Slifkin placed 2nd at last year's Liberty to Liberty Triathlon. JEREMY KACUBA (27, Telford) Jeremy was victorious at the 2004 Wilkes Barre Duathlon and 3rd at the Virginia Duathlon last April. ROBIN JEFFERIS (42, Phoenixville) Robin was a USAT All American in 2004. Her 2nd at "Got the Nerve" was among her most impressive efforts last season. HEATHER HOUSEKNECHT (29, Furlong) Heather was a USAT Honorable Mention All American as both a triathlete & duathlete in 2004. Her top 5 finish at the prestigious Wilkes Barre Triathlon was one of her competitive highlights last year. She finished 2nd at the Brandywine Duathlon on April 16. MICHELLE POLLIO (40, Philadelphia) A 2004 USAT All American, Michelle has earned the right to compete for Team USA on five occasions. She possesses great credentials as both a long course & short course triathlete.
