McMullen wins Multistar title

2004 U.S. Olympic Trials fourth-place finisher Phil McMullen was the men's decathlon winner Sunday at the 2005 IAAF Combined Events Challenge in Salò, Italy.

Seventh after the first day of competition, McMullen won the discus throw (50.54 meters/165 feet, 10 inches) and the 1,500 meters (4:18.77) to win comfortably with a total score of 8,107 points. 2004 U.S. Olympian, Paul Terek finished in fifth place with 7,702 points.

Team USA stars to appear on "THE APPRENTICE"

On this season's finale of the NBC hit show "THE APPRENTICE," featuring Donald Trump, finalist contestant Tana has been assigned the task of overseeing an exhibition multi-sport event at Chelsea Piers in New York City. Olympic athletes competing in track & field, gymnastics and beach volleyball will be featured.

2004 U.S. Olympic track and field medalists scheduled to appear include men's 100m gold medalist, 200m bronze medalist and 4x100m relay silver medalist Justin Gatlin, men's 100m bronze medalist and 4x100m relay silver medalist Maurice Greene, women's 200m silver medalist Allyson Felix and women's 100m silver medalist Lauryn Williams.

Look for the season finale of "THE APPRENTICE" to air Thursday, May 12, at 9 p.m., Eastern Time on NBC.

Cross country stars highlight All-USA High School Academic Team

USA Today announced its 2005 All-USA High School Academic Team, which features five cross country competitors, in its Thursday, May 12 edition.

Of the 20 high school academic standouts named to the team, the five individuals who competed in cross country include:

Marshall Worsham: Herschel V. Jenkins H.S. in Savannah, Ga. He was the captain of the varsity boys cross country team. Worsham will attend Davidson (N.C.) College.

Theodoros Milonopoulos: Campbell H.S., N. Hollywood, Calif. The co-captain of the varsity cross country team, Milonopoulous also competed in track & field. He will attend Stanford University.

Christopher Kimmer: Ballard H.S., Seattle, Wash. Varsity cross country team captain. Kimmer will attend Yale University.

Robert Cordwell: Manzano H.S., Albuquerque, N.M. A member of the varsity cross country team, Cordwell will attend Caltech.

Brenna Brucker: Bethel Park (Pa.) H.S. Brucker is an 11-time varsity letter winner in cross country, track, rifle and swimming. She will attend Brown University.

Stork Report

2004 USA Olympic Women's Marathon Trials fifth-place finisher Magdalena Lewy-Boulet, and her husband, miler Richie Boulet, became the proud parents of a baby boy on Monday.

Owen Wilberforce Boulet entered the world at 10:27 a.m., weighing 5 pounds, 13 ounces. He is 16.5 inches long. Mother, father and baby are all doing fine.
