Adventure Racing: Explore Sweden will host the 2006 Adventure Racing World Championship

ARWorld Series director Geoff Hunt announced the venue following Explore Sweden's successful 2005 race, which has just been completed.

"I am delighted that the world event will be held in Sweden next year and am sure that there will be huge interest from adventure racers all over the world."

The 2006 championship will be held from August 1-8 at a yet to be announced location in Sweden.

Explore Sweden race directors Helena Lind and Mikael Nordström are pleased with the confidence shown in Explore Sweden to run the event.

"A long and conscious effort to arrange adventure races is finally paying off," says Mikael Nordström." "Where in Sweden the race will take place is not yet decided. There are several good destination alternatives."

"We have with Explore Sweden 2004 and 2005 showed that we can arrange adventure races of world class, and that we now have the opportunity to arrange the World Champs in 2006. It is a big dream come true," says Helena Lind.

The Adventure Racing World Series is an international circuit of premiere adventure races representing 10 countries creating a 12 month calendar of professional events around the world.The series events are: Beast of the East-USA, Raid the North Extreme- Canada, Ecomotion/Pro - Brazil, Appalachian Extreme - USA, Explore Sweden - Sweden, The Bull of Africa - S.Africa, Terra Incognita - Croatia, Bergson Winter Challenge - Poland, Wilderness ARC - Scotland and Southern Traverse -New Zealand. Adventure Racing World Series events are qualifiers for the Adventure Race World Championship
