Triathlon: Tri-Dubai Sends Stellar Team To Disney Half-Ironman

Boulder, Colorado - Hoping to follow up on their wins in April, Tri-Dubai triathletes Kate Major and Simon Lessing will race this weekend's Florida Half-Ironman at Disney World with big targets on their backs. Lessing, 34, and Major, 27, used exceptional performances in April to firmly establish themselves as the 2005 season's highest flyers thus far.

Less than a month removed from his record-setting performance at the Wildflower Half-Ironman, where he cracked the elusive four-hour mark, Lessing is looking take full advantage of his tremendous fitness at the skillet-flat Florida course. For her part, Major is aiming to build on the strong winter training that netted her a win at the inaugural Arizona Ironman the second weekend of April.

As part of the Tri-Dubai team's charity program, Lessing and Major have partnered with the Florida-based Give Kids the World organization for this weekend's race. The partnership will reward the charity with in kind donations based on the race winnings from the Tri-Dubai competitors.

Give Kids the World is a non-profit resort that creates magical memories for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. Wish-granting organizations coordinate transportation to Orlando, while Give Kids The World provides accommodations at its whimsical resort, donated attraction tickets and meals for a week-long, fantasy vacation. Since its founding in 1986, Give Kids The World Village has welcomed over 68,000 families from all 50 states and 50 countries.

Tri-Dubai is a professional triathlon super-team made up of elite triathletes from all over the world. Sponsored by the city of Dubai, UAE, under the patronage of Dubai Crown Prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, the team focuses on generating international attention for Dubai as a world-class tourist and business destination, and sharing success by partnering with local charities at designated competitions.
