Posted: May 23, 2005 Multisport: Triathlon Canada names new Executive Director
Alan Trivett has been named Triathlon Canada’s Executive Director, the sport organization announced today. “We are delighted that Alan has accepted this important role within the triathlon family,” said Bill Hallett, President, Triathlon Canada. “He brings outstanding and broad expertise to the organization and his initial time here has been a great success.” Trivett brings years of experience and expertise to Triathlon Canada, having spent six years as the Executive Director, Tennis Development at Tennis Canada. A certified Level IV NCCP coach, he also boasts strong entrepreneurial skills, having established a nationally recognized Tennis Academy in the mid ‘90s, and founding a successful sporting venue company that has been operating profitably since 1994. Trivett joined the Triathlon Canada team in February of this year as the Program Manager and went to work immediately as the on-site manager of a National Camp in Kona, Hawaii. While the sport is new to this former elite tennis player, Trivett has enjoyed the transition to the triathlon world. “It’s a wonderful community to be involved in and I’m looking forward to getting to know the athletes, coaches, volunteers and the sport itself even better,” said Trivett. “After three weeks in close quarters with our national team members, I almost feel like triathlon has been a part of my life forever!” Trivett is the recipient of many awards, most recently having been inducted into the city of Brampton’s Sports’ Hall of Fame in the Builder Category for 2003. Since leaving his full-time, elite tennis career, his athletic interests have broadened to include skiing, golfing and biking. Might he soon add triathlon to his CV? Comment on this story. |
