Athletics: Marathoner Gladki Killed In Car Accident

Polish marathoner Piotr Gladki was tragically killed in a car accident yesterday, May 27. He was 33 years-old.

Henryk Paskal, an RRW subscriber in Pila, reported the sad news.

Gladki represented Poland at the 2002 European Championships in the marathon, finishing 17th. He set his personal best at the distance when he won the Hamburg Marathon in 2000 in 2:11:06. He most recently won the Kraków Marathon on May 7 in 2:19:30.

Gladki's other best times were 7:57.07 for 3000m, 13:36.50 for 5000m, 28:38.41 for 10,000m and 1:01:35 for the half-marathon.
