Posted: June 11, 2005 Athletics: Kiplagat Runs Away At New York Mini From David Monti © 2005 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com NEW YORK (11-Jun) -- With a 4:48 first mile, Lornah Kiplagat surged to the front of today's 34th running of the Circle of Friends New York Mini 10-K in Central Park and was never challenged. The 31 year-old Dutchwoman won going away in 31:44 in very warm and humid conditions. Emerging from the pack of challengers to take second place was Jelena Prokopcuka of Latvia, the 2005 Osaka Marathon Champion. She clocked 32:18, just six seconds ahead of third place Benita Johnson.
