Posted: June 16, 2005 Triathlon: Canadian National Triathlon Centre Adopts a PET The Canadian National Triathlon Centre (NTC) is proud to announce the formation of the Triathlon Performance Enhancement Team (PET). The PET will provide a number of services to Canada's top triathletes including the coordination of medical, sport science, psychology, massage, chiropractic, nutrition, strength, flexibility, and sport technology. The Team is being coordinated by Dr. Gordon Sleivert, Director of Sport Science and Medicine at PacificSport National Sport Centre, and Paul Regensburg, Director/Coach of the NTC. The goal of the PET is to provide Canadian triathletes with a new level of supplementary support that has sometimes been absent from the Canadian sport system. The ultimate objective is continued and expanded international success in a very competitive world sport environment. "Triathlon has surfaced as a national leader in the direction of performance enhancement teams and has shown great commitment to providing services to its top athletes", recently stated Dr. Sleivert. In addition to Sleivert and Regensburg, the initial formation of the PET includes physicians Dr. Steven Keeler and Dr. Vanessa Young, Sport Psychologist Dr. Bruce Pinel, Strength specialist Jeremy Sheppard, and NTC Head Coach Lance Watson. The Team will work with other specialists in the Victoria community which is home to many of Canada's leading experts in sport medicine and care. The National Triathlon Centre is a partnership of Triathlon Canada and the PacificSport National Sport Centre. For more information on the NTC visit NTTC.ca. Comment on this story. |
