Posted: June 18, 2005 Athletics: Kiplagat Paces Masai To Dutch 10,000M ACR From David Monti © 2005 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com Lornah Kiplagat paced Edith Masai to a Dutch all-comers record in a special 10,000m race held in Utrecht, Netherlands last night. "Temperature 20 degrees C, no wind and a little humid, but another great night in Utrecht," Kiplagat's husband Pieter Langerhorst reported to RRW in an e-mail message. "Lornah paced till 5400 meters" and split the 5-K in 15:40, Langerhorst continued. Masai, 38 of Kenya, was making her debut at the distance. She averaged 74-second laps to finish in 30:51.99. The previous best 10,000m on Dutch soil was achieved by Liz McColgan of Scotland at Hengelo on 25-Jun-1991 (30:57.07). Masai's time was also the second-fastest in the world this year. Eleven of the top-13 women set career best times. Kenyan Irene Kwambai finished second in 30:55.67 PB, with Bizunesh Bekele of Ethiopia in third in 31:10.68 PB.
