Triathlon: Jimmy Riccitello Appointed Global Tri Group's Head Referee

Jimmy Riccitello, well known in the Triathlon community for his expertise and experience in the sport, has been appointed Head Referee of the newly formed Global Tri Group. Riccitello will oversee officiating at each event endorsed by GTG, beginning with the Honu Half Ironman Triathlon and ending the year with the Ford Ironman Florida Triathlon. Riccitello will also officiate the Ford Ironman World Championship. In addition to his event-related responsibilities, he will manage all other aspects of the officiating program, including recruitment, certification, evaluation and other administrative duties.

Riccitello says, "I am excited to be a part of GTG and its efforts to improve the way races are officiated. I fully agree with GTG's philosophy of providing the athletes with the fairest race possible while enforcing the rules with a common sense approach."

Riccitello, an accomplished athlete winning more than 50 races around the world, has had his hand in multiple areas of triathlon, contributing to the growth of the sport. His contributions include writing for Inside Triathlon, Triathlete Magazine, Tailwinds Magazine and Slowtwitch.com and serving on USA Triathlon's Board of Directors as well as the Athlete Advisory Committee from 1996 to 2001.
