Posted: July 1, 2005 Triathlon: Five visually impaired triathletes finish 2005 Ford Ironman USA Coeur d’Alene COEUR D’ALENE, IDAHO—Five visually impaired triathletes competing in the Ford Ironman USA Coeur d’Alene on June 26 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho finished the 2005 event. The five triathletes: Aaron Scheidies (Farmington, Mich.), Lindsey Jessup (Chesterfield, Va.), Charles Plaskon (Punta Gorda, Fla.), Dave Bigoney (Tallahassee, Fla.) and Heidi Musser (Chicago, Ill.) all finished before the 17 hour cut off. Each triathlete is a part of the “C Different” Foundation and will be featured in documentary feature film entitled “Victory Over Darkness.” The “C Different Foundation” was created to inspire visually impaired people around the world to lead active and healthy lives, to educate the general public about the visually impaired and to change the perspectives that people have about the visually impaired Scheidies finished with an overall time of twelve hours, 49 minutes and 37 seconds, Jessup finished in 14:54:59 and Plaskon finished in 15:31:35. Bigoney finished with an overall time of 16:40: 08, and Musser finished with a time of 16:51:05. Along with finishing the 2005 Ford Ironman Coeur d’Alene, Scheidies also raised money through the Janus Charity Challenge for the foundation 1,761 triathletes from around the world competed in the Ford Ironman USA Coeur d’Alene. Athletes competed for 80 qualifying spots to the Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, as well as a $50,000 men’s pro prize purse. Comment on this story. |
