Multisport: Triathlon on 2012 Olympic Programme

Singapore IOC 117th Session: For Immediate Release: The IOC today confirmed that Triathlon will continue to be a full programme sport at the Olympic Games through the 2012 London Olympic Games.

The IOC also confirmed their position that there would only be 28 sports on the summer programme, with a total of 10,500 athletes competing in 301 events.

ASOIF, the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations, asked unanimously that the scores of the votes not be released as they did not want the sports ranked, to prevent any adverse affect on a sport's marketing and media prospects. The IOC Executive Board agreed with this request.
