Posted: July 15, 2005 Athletics: British And US Sprinters Dominate 100M Finals MARRAKESH – British and American sprinters achieved outstanding “one-two” doubles in the Girls’ and Boys’ 100m Finals last night in Marrakesh, on the second day of the IAAF/ Maroc Telecom World Youth Championships. Graceful sprinting from Bianca Knight and Ebony Collins saw the US duo push Schillonie Calvert of Jamaica into third place while Harry Aikines Ayreetey and Alex Nelson, won at a canter from Trinidad's Keston Bledman in their contest. Knight had set a world leading time for the year of 11.38 in the first round, matching this time again with a storming performance to clinch the gold medal. Collins showed the strain of being strongly challenged by Calvert to just hold for silver, the pair sharing the same time of 11.44. In the Boys’ 100m Final, the British duo led throughout the race – storming out of their blocks together with equal reaction times of 0.173 –leaving Bledman a distant third in 10.55.
