Athletics: ING Miami Marathon To Host CEO Marathon ‘Latin American Championship’

BOULDER, CO – CEO Challenge LLC is pleased to announce that the ING Miami Marathon will be the site for the 2006 CEO Marathon ‘Latin American* Championship’, and the first announced event to kick off the CEO Marathon Challenge program worldwide.

A CEO Marathon Challenge event will be run in conjunction with the ING Miami Marathon on January 29, 2006, with the objective of crowning the top Latin American* CEO Marathon runners. The CEO Marathon Challenge is open to any CEO, Company President, or corporate Chief Officer (min. annual gross revenue of US $5 million), with Latin American* CEOs competing to be named as champion in four categories: Female; Male over 50 age group; 40 – 49; and under 40.

The top three in each category will receive special awards, and the best will be ranked against CEOs racing at other CEO Marathon Challenge events around the world.

The CEO Marathon Challenge program is designed as a ‘competition within the competition’ for CEOs and Company Presidents, and includes a complete program of on-site coaching, VIP passes to all events, the opportunity to get to know fellow CEO marathon runners, and a race day program focused on looking after the family or guests of the competing CEO. The program is similar to the very popular CEO Ironman Challenge events that have been offered at various Ironman races around the world for the previous five years.

Some of the major benefits associated with the CEO Marathon Challenge include:

  • Guaranteed entry to the ING Miami Marathon, even if closed to the general public
  • CEO Marathon Challenge racing uniform and casual clothing
  • Two nights luxury accommodation at the Hotel Intercontinental, the only luxury hotel overlooking the race start and finish
  • Rooms for CEO competitors have been booked on the CLUB level, and includes breakfast, a business center, and hors d'ouvres all day
  • Invitation to the Friday night Happy Hour Party at Bongo’s Cuban Café (owned by Gloria Estefan)
  • Guided Saturday morning pre-race warm-up, racing tips, and Q&A with Olympic Marathon Champion Frank Shorter

  • Charity contribution on behalf of CEO competitors to the Prostate Cancer Foundation
  • Biography (with company logo and link) on each competitor on the www.ceomarathonchallenge.com web site, and in an official printed program distributed to CEOs and the media on site

The CEO Marathon Challenge program will run from Friday, January 27 to Sunday, Jan 29, 2006 and the all-inclusive price is $1,750. To enter, download an application at www.ceomarathonchallenge.com, and send with payment to the address on the form. Entry closes January 1, 2006.

*For the purposes of this CEO Challenge, Latin America is designated as South America, Central America, and the Caribbean countries.

An all-inclusive program designed for CEOs and Company Presidents who race marathons (26.2 miles) that emphasizes camaraderie, friendly competition, and a true VIP experience from ‘inside the ropes’.
