Posted: July 26, 2005 Athletics: Guevara's Last Pre-World Champs Test Tonight By Bob Ramsak, Track Profile © 2005 Track Profile all rights reserved TrackProfile.com LJUBLJANA, Slovenia -- Ana Guevara, the reigning world 400m champion, will make her last test run prior to next month's world championships at tonight's Ljubljana 2005 Meeting in the Slovenian capital. Guevara, who struggled with injury last year prior to capturing the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Athens, has claimed just one victory this season in six races. In late May, she raced to a 50.55 win at the Banamex Grand Prix before a home crowd in Hermosillo, Mexico. But in her last three races, she finished runner-up, twice to U.S. champion and world leader Sanya Richards. She has also finished behind reigning Olympic champion Tonique Williams-Darling twice this season. At the Galatletica Meeting in Monterrey, Mexico, Williams-Darling clocked 49.85 to Guevara's 50.05, a season's best for the Mexican. Guevara has been based in Ljubljana for the past several summers. Tonight Guevara will race in a 300m event. Copyright © Bob Ramsak and Track Profile. All rights reserved TrackProfile.com © 1996 - 2005 RunnersWeb.com - All rights reserved.
