HELSINKI, Finland -- After several days in the Finnish capital, not too many people were fooled by the crisp blue cloudless skies that made a brief appearance earlier today. Just as the evening session was getting underway, the strong winds that were swirling madly in each direction earlier blew in gloomy gray skies, postponing the competition. When those passed through through, it was the ominous black clouds' turn.

After a two hour delay, competition will resume at 8:45 pm local time (1:45 EST). The schedule has been adjusted as follows:

- The men's 200m second round will be held at 1.45pm tomorrow, Wednesday, 10 Aug.
- The men's Triple Jump qualifying will be staged at 11.15am tomorrow.
- The women's Discus Final, which cannot be staged tomorrow, will be held on Thursday, 11 Aug at 8pm.
- The opening round of the women's 100m will continue.
- Finals in the men's 3000m steeplechase (9:20 pm), women's 800m (21:35) and men's 400m hurdles (21:50) will still be contested tonight.
