Posted: September 3, 2005 Athletics: Runyan Becomes Mother From David Monti © 2005 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com Marla Runyan and husband Matt Lonergan became parents on September 1 as Runyan gave birth to Anna Lee Lonergan at 1:23 p.m. It is the first child for the couple who live in Eugene, Ore. "Anna was 6 lbs. and 11 ounces, 19 inches long," Lonergan wrote in an e-mail message to friends. "Marla and Anna are both healthy and feeling great." Runyan, 36, is perhaps the most versatile distance runners in the United States. The former heptathlete has run world class times from 1500m (4:02.95), 3000m (8:39.36), 5000m (14:59.20), 20 km on the road (1:05:52 NR) to the marathon (2:27:10). As a heptathlete she scored 5761 points. She represented the United States at the Olympic Games in both 2000 (8th in the 1500m final) and 2004 (5000m heats). Comment on this story. |
