MONTE CARLO -- As in 2004, TPR is assisting the IAAF with coverage from the World Athletics Final, the season-capping event in Monte Carlo, September 9-10. Previews of all the events of the two-day meet are now available on the IAAF website at IAAF.org. TPR's coverage begins tomorrow (08-Sept).

A few updates: Kenenisa Bekele will not be contesting the event, nor will U.S. 1500 meter champion Alan Webb. Following up his recent 10,000 meter world record in Brussels, Bekele will conclude his season with what his manager Jos Hermens characterized as an "easy" 3000 race at the Shanghai Golden Grand Prix on September 17th. Webb has a pair of road miles on his schedule, next weekend in Newcastle, GBR and the following weekend in New York City.

Fittingly for the 2005 season, the forecast for the weekend calls for a chance of thunderstorms on Friday, and thunderstorms throughout the day on Saturday.
