Athletics: P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Race is Four Months Away

SAN DIEGO, Calif., Sept. 8, 2006 – If you want to rock, you'd better get on a roll. The P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon & ½ Marathon, set for Jan. 15, 2006, is four months away. Participants who register for the event by September 15 can save $10 on their entry fee.

The $85 early entry fee for the marathon goes up to $95 and the $60 half marathon fee increases to $70 after September 15. Individuals can register online at www.RnRAZ.com.

Event organizers are expecting over 30,000 registered participants for the third annual event that runs through Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe, Arizona.

This year’s race falls on a three-day holiday weekend, and features great winter running weather, music from over 60 live bands and hundreds of local high school cheerleaders providing encouragement along the route.

The musical party continues at the evening post-race concert, which is also open to the general public. All registered participants and race volunteers receive a free ticket to the concert at Tempe Beach Park on race night. Past performers include Jason Mraz (2005) and the Goo Goo Dolls (2004).

A free two-day “Health & Fitness Expo” presented by Fox Channel 10 and UPN 45 will be held Fri., Jan. 13 and Sat., Jan. 14 at The Phoenix Civic Plaza Convention Center and will feature the latest health and nutrition information with a variety of products for sample and sale.
