Triathlon: Canadian Results at the 2005 World Triathlon Championships

25 top Canadian triathletes competed at the 2005 World Triathlon Championships this past weekend in Gamagori, Japan.

4 Canadians manged to break into the top 10, including U23 Elites Kathy Tremblay (Ste.Foy, QC) and Kyle Jones (Oakville, ON). Olympians Simon Whitfield (Victoria, BC) finished 6th, and Samantha McGlone (Otterburn Park, QC), finished 9th.

Whitfield, the 2000 Sydney Olympics Gold Medallist and 2004 Athens Olympian, managed to tie his previous World Championships best. Samantha McGlone, 2004 Athens Olympian, had her best ever placing in the World Championships. Both are 2005 National Champions.

Kathy Tremblay had stated that she wanted to crack the top 10 and beat her last year's ranking of 9th place. Not only did she accomplish all those goals, but she cracked the top 5, placing 5th. This is her last year of competition in the U23 field. Kyle Jones, coming off of a second place finish in the U23 Elite National Championships, placed 9th.
