Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Kick-off Party and Training Run Hosted by SRP's EarthWise Energy Join Olympic gold and silver medalist Frank Shorter for a training run Sept. 29. PHOENIX, Ariz., Sept. 14, 2005 -- The third annual P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon & ˝ Marathon is just four months away -- January 15, 2006 -- and a Kick-off Party and Training Run is being held to help get runners and walkers motivated. Hosted by Salt River Project's (SRP) EarthWise Energy, the party is set for Thurs., Sept. 29 from 5-7:30 pm. at Arizona Falls, on Indian School Road and 56th Street. Guests will enjoy live music, a mini-Expo, and refreshments before hitting the canals for a 3.5-mile training run with Olympic gold and silver medalist Frank Shorter. The event is free and open to the public, including those who are already registered for the race, would like to register or simply want to learn more about the musical marathon. Registration fees for P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Arizona increase after Sept. 15, but organizers will roll back the prices by $10 (to $85 for the marathon/$60 for the half), for one day only, at the kick-off party. Save $10 off the entry price for the marathon or half marathon. The first 100 people to register will receive a FREE training T-shirt. At 5:45 pm, Olympic gold medalist Frank Shorter will give a short motivational talk and then lead a 3.5-mile training run along the canals. Registration will be open from 5-7:30 pm. 6:30 - 7:30 pm - Commemorative photo opportunity with Frank Shorter in front of SRP's Arizona Falls. Live music and refreshments provided by P.F. Chang's China Bistro, New York Pizza Dept., Michelob Ultra, Mr. Margarita and Southwest Airlines. Representatives from local charities, including Team in Training and the Wellness Community's Strides for Hope, will be on-hand to provide information about their training programs for the Marathon & ˝ Marathon.
