Athletics: Felix named USATF Athlete of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS - Allyson Felix has been named USA Track & Field's Athlete of the Week after she won the 200 meters at the IAAF World Athletics Final in Monaco to remain undefeated in the 2005 outdoor season. The 19-year-old ran 22.27 seconds to again defeat Olympic gold medalist Veronica Campbell of Jamaica (22.37) in Monaco. Earlier this season, Felix clocked wins at the USA Outdoor Championships and IAAF World Outdoor Championships, as well as at London, Sheffield, Monterrey and the adidas Track Classic.

Now in its fifth year, USATF's Athlete of the Week program is designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport. USATF names a new honoree each week and features the athlete on the USATF website. Selections are based on top performances and results from the previous week.
