Athletics: Teams For The European Athletics Indoor Cup 2006

The qualified teams for the European Athletics Indoor Cup in Liévin, France, on Sunday, 5 March, 2006 have been confirmed today by the European Athletics Federation.

According to EAA regulations, the teams that finished in the top six at the SPAR European Cup plus the winners of the European Cup First League Group A and B matches in 2005 are qualified to compete in the Indoor Cup. The Great Britain women’s team, the winner of this year's First League Group B match, has withdrawn from the Cup as their leading athletes will be in Australia for the Commonwealth Games. Thus the Italian women’s team, who finished seventh in the SPAR European Cup, will compete in Liévin.

The European Indoor Cup was introduced by the EAA as a project event in 2003 and the future of the competition will be considered after the third edition in March.
